Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Paul Meyer (Our VMFactory Master)

This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. See An index to all Rangers covered on this blog for more details.

Who are you?

Paul Meyer … also known as the VM Factory Master. Read about a recent session on the factory here and use the TFSVM tag on the Rangers blog to filter on all blogs that relate to the VM Factory, which is a project for which Paul was and is one of the core masterminds.

What makes you tick”?

Challenges. I get bored easily, so trying to do the impossible usually keeps me occupied the longest. J (Amsterdam to Mera Peak took a mere three weeks…)

Where do you live?

Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Where do you call home?

Is ‘home’ a strange answer? Bought a ‘project’ apartment in 2006, which could be called ‘finished’ now. We will be welcoming our first child here shortly, which makes me want to call it ‘home’ even more.

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

There is an unstoppable urge within me not to agree to the status quo. If I can make peoples’ lives a better place by contributing to better products and guidance then I will. Being active in the Rangers is one way to do that. There is a very direct connection with customers thought the MVP’s and Microsoft Services involvement and one of the few ways to get in very close contact with the product groups within Microsoft.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

I loved the speed and agility with which we could complete the Virtualized TFS Deployment project.
