Lync 2010: Building Partner Capability

I recently read an article by InfoWorld’s Brian Chee “Microsoft Lync 2010: Unified communications comes of age” where he wrote favorably” . . .[Lync] strikes me as a stepping stone toward the future.” Naturally, it’s exciting to see our product being met with enthusiasm and knowing that our partners can feel confident in providing to customers!

As a Microsoft partner, you have the opportunity to take your customer’s unified communications (UC) to the next level. And the best way to showcase your UC skills and to receive valuable benefits is to gain the Unified Communications competency. However, many of you have run into a stumbling block in gaining this competency, especially if you wanted to prepare to pass the Lync exams. It’s not intuitive on how to find good prep materials so here is my tip of the week – use the Lync Ignite recordings, which are based off of 5-day, 300-level instructor-led training, to help you pass both 70-664TS: Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Configuring and 70-665 PRO: Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Administrator. These streaming videos, recorded at the Ignite event, are divided into two parts: Part 1 includes information about topics such as setup and deployment, migration and coexistence, and presence experience, and Part 2 highlights voice applications, voice quality considerations, and more. Partners can follow up the recordings with the Lync 2010 Ignite Hands-on Labs Online(HOLO) for practice.

And if you need further help, contact the Microsoft Partner Network Experts. They have a wealth of knowledge and keep you successful navigate through everything you need to know to attain a competency. Email them at msexpert@microsoft.com.
