Windows Phone 7 gets some personality

Long Zheng and I have similar interests when it comes to Microsoft – we both seem to enjoy looking beyond the big ticket items that are in announcements and enjoy the detailed elements such as typography, iconography and where personality shines through in software. You see it much less these days and long gone are the days of Easter Eggs in software.

In his post yesterday on Windows Phone 7 Series and some of the UI touches, Long points to some personality coming back to the device – the smiley face on messages shown above that turns to a shocked face the more messages you receive. Further in his post Long shows the flipping tiles that are used for Facebook status updates.

I’ve yet to actually play with a Windows Phone 7 Series in the flesh so I’m hugely jealous of the folks at MIX but also pretty excited by what I have seen.
