The Myth of Overnight Success
Catching up on some reading and I thought I’d share this manifesto - The Myth of Overnight Success by Barrie Bergman. It’s a short and easy read that uses a few powerful stories to explain the myth and show that hard work and dedication is the real key to succes..

Hmmm...nothing particularly novel here. It would be more interesting to see an account of something that appeared to be an overnight success, but a glimpse behind the scenes showed how much work/years were entailed (Gapingvoid is a great example). Also, the following comment seems like a bit of a 'sell-out' and contradiction to his claim of unwavering integrity..."I believed very strongly in Jane’s right to free speech. And I understood the veterans’ point of view. I wanted to be fair and considerate to both sides. But the businessman in me knew I had to cancel the visit." In other words, the principle lined up to keeping the visit, but the money lined up to cancelling. Barrie claims he cancelled out of fear of someone getting hurt in the protests which seems pretty remote and tenuous.
