Educate yourself with Microsoft Flashcards
Not sure? Evidently it’s a rooster so consider yourself educated by Microsoft Education Labs Flashcards. It’s a funky little web app that applies a learning technique known as spaced repetition. Basically you get a bunch of cards “flashed” at you and you then recall and enter what you think the correct response is.
Granted, the animals deck by Kate is pretty easy though I will be trying it out on my nephew this evening to see if he paid attention at school. By contrast, the Flags of Americas deck may challenge some UN members :)
You can of course create your own deck so I built a quick ‘n dirty “cars” deck. try you luck with my deck
Honestly, I think this is a great little site…one of those things Microsoft does that falls through the cracks as it’s not launched with big fanfare etc but deserves it’s place in roster of cool stuff that goes unnoticed. I had this discussion (sort of) with Don Dodge on a Techflash post recently where he summed it up nicely with this statement
Microsoft is so big and successful that they don't get credit for many of the smaller, but important, innovations they make.
I think that’s fair and frankly not unreasonable when you have a company of this size with so many “big” products. I suppose the role I play is to try to point out some of the smaller, less visible things alongside the big ones. Read more on the Educations Labs blog
