Why upgrade to Vista SP1? How has file copy changed since XP

Mark Russinovich has posted a great article which goes into detail upon how to file copy functionality in Windows Vista's Service Pack 1 is a great improvement. As Mark mentions there are improvements right across the operating system including performance, reliability and security. You can read all about the changes in the white paper titled Windows Vista SP1 Guides for IT Professionals.

The glitches are gone hence you shouldn't see anything like this...

I only had a handful of instances where the "time to copy" calculation went horribly wrong - the copy operation denoted above actually only took minutes not years as suggested.

Now you are just being a tease! Most people won't be able to get their hands on SP1 until next month.

Steve two issues I have found in Sp1 and I am struggling to get them out there, been googling for hours trying to find an answer. Issue 1, when moving files on a network share (mapped drive)(2003 server) you get prompted 'do you want to move or copy files from this zone' I have played around with IE settings but to no avail. 2nd issue, if you connect by RDP to a server and let it time you our after 2 mins idle time, when you reconnect to the session you are unable to type, you have to cancel and connect again. Any light on these two points woudl be good, many thanks, enjoy the snow :-) Andrew.
