Windows Live Suite has lots of RSS goodness

A couple weeks ago, Chris Jones (VP on the Windows Live team) announced the new Windows Live suite. Included in this suite are two things of potential interest to readers of this blog:

First, the beta release of Windows Live Mail -- a desktop email client like Outlook Express or Windows Mail for Vista. What makes it even more interesting is that includes support for reading RSS feeds (based on the Windows RSS Platform -- so anything you subscribed to using IE7 is automatically available in Windows Live Mail).

Windows Live Mail is great for those who like their feeds in a mail-like "three-pane" view. Brandon LeBlanc wrote about using Windows Live Mail as an RSS reader not too long ago on the Windows Experience blog. Read more about the beta release on the Windows Live Mail team blog.

Second, the suite includes an update to Windows Live Writer - a fantastic blogging tool (that I've written about before) with support for dozens of blogging services. Read about Writer on the team's blog.

So, lots of good stuff happening on the RSS and blogging front over in Windows Live-land. Keep an eye on the Windows Live Wire blog for updates.

Instead of creating a 'common feeds' in Windows, Windows Live needs to have a server where a user can store and manage their feeds, and then sync the feeds (and the settings) with a client (such as WLM) If Microsoft and Windows Live did this, I really believe that a lot more people would switch to using Windows Live for their RSS services.

Is there a product that MS has that does what NewsGator does?  Something to be able to send an rss feed to an AD group or to the entire AD directory?

While many Windows Live services are implemented in software+service, why an online RSS reader is missing? For peoples using multiple computers it will make much more sense, and I will also not miss anything even my computer is not connected for a few days (say, when I am traveling). Also an online RSS reader with which popular feeds can be fetched much more frequently - while still keeping workload of the feed website relatively low, as only a single request need to be sent for all common subscribers each time.

In addition whatever happened to windows live mobile so that I can read my rss stored on window live on my cell phone? I've heard rumours of it, there is even a mention of it on wikipedia but I've never actually seen it running on my cell phone. I've been looking at alternatives and I'm probably going to drop windows live soon unless i get mobile reader access as I just find reading rss on my cell to convenient to ignore it any more.
