Azure, Webstock and Jeff Atwood

Jan 2010 MSDN Flash Editorial

Welcome Back!

2010 is kicking into full steam and there are a number of exciting things looming. First of all I'd like to congratulate Jeffrey for winning the random draw for a 12 month subscription to Visual Studio Professional with MSDN Premium in our Summer Windows Azure competition.

As mentioned previously Windows Azure is now commercially available in New Zealand and we will begin billing on the 1st of Feb 2010. The best way to take advantage of Azure today is with a special deal being offered to MSDN subscribers (if you are not a subscriber now is a great time to buy) also there is an offer for Microsoft partners to take advantage of. If you don't fall into either of these categories or you simply want to kick the tyres you can sign up for the Windows Azure Platform Introductory Special (available until Jul 31st). A valid credit card is needed for sign-up that will be charged if you go over the free monthly allowance.

Mike & Ryan's MSNZ UNPLUGGED - Windows Azure - All You Need to Know to Get Started session from the December MSDN UNPLUGGED tour is also available online for you to enjoy also JD's Get Ready for Visual Studio 2010 is there as well.

If you are wondering who in New Zealand is already taking advantage of the new Azure Platform wonder no more. Intergen has done a great job working with TicketDirect to launch their new business on the Azure Platform check out the online case study.

In other news for you .NET web developers reading this editorial Jeff Atwood - aka Mr Codinghorror is coming to New Zealand for the Webstock conference in Wellington on the 15-19th Feb. Jeff currently works full time on his blog while building stackoverflow.com in a joint venture with Joel Spolsky. On Tue 16th Feb in Wellington, Jeff is running a half day workshop titled ASP.NET MVC -- it's TNT!

In this workshop Jeff will share with you lessons learned in building Stack Overflow and operating a live top 1,000 website running on ASP.NET MVC.

If this sounds to you like an opportunity not to be missed register your place now! ($350 if attending Webstock, $495 if not)
