I would suspect it will be around 2 years away, it is dependant on the number of fixes etc that are produced etc. - Anonymous

None of these KB articles really apply to me, but they are fascinating anyways :)

Not painless for me. Bluescreened on reboot on Logon Process failures. Been trying to recover my formerly perfectly functional notebook for 2 days now. Uninstalling SP2 is not a trivial task. - Anonymous

After installing xp sp2 my modem will no longer connect at prior 50.6 or 52 kbps. The most it will get now is 33.6 which is even more agonizingly slow. If I had the money I would go the broadband route, but, alas, I do not.
Anyway I previously had generic 56 k drivers for a conexant soft 56k modem and had no problems. I uninstalled xp sp2, but that didn't help. The original drivers contained the WINACHSF.sys file that gives a error message stating that it causes stability problems with win xp. But I was already using it with win xp sp1 with no problems.
curious to know if anyone else has experienced these problems and more importantly how to fix them. or is this a microsoft ploy to get people to switch to broadband?
i've tried to install many other modem drivers, but they either won't install or the connection speed remains at 33.6.
any help would be greatly appreciated. - Anonymous
