Oslo - a tool, a language, a repository

Douglas Purdy puts it best in his What is Oslo? post a few days ago, Oslo is a tool, a language and a repository. You are still probably scratching your head thinking, well what is it really? Well, the guys over in the connected systems division isn't ready to disclose all details until PDC. I think it will be well worth the wait. You will be getting a fully connected picture of how some common tooling fits together in great ways. So if you want to be the first to be "in the know", then I'll see you at PDC in October.

For right now Doug describes Oslo in three very simple parts:

  • A tool that helps people define and interact with models in a rich and visual manner
  • A language that helps people create and use textual domain-specific languages and data models
  • A relational repository that makes models available to both tools and platform components

And if you haven’t watched it yet, you can also see the short Bob Muglia's video. Think of it as the Oslo teaser trailer...
