Looking for some new cool CRM add-ons?

Our friends at Prosoft just announced 4 new add-ons for Microsoft CRM.  Incredibly, one of them is even free.  Yes - FREE!  Apparently Frank and his developers love working with Dynamics CRM 4.0 so much they do this stuff for fun and then give some of it away.  How can you not like these guys?

  • Note Count is a free add on to Microsoft CRM that allows users to see how many notes are associated with the record.  If there are any notes, the tab will turn red and display the count.

  • View Count for Microsoft CRM

One of the most commonly asked for functions of CRM is a count of records in the view.  Prosoft's View Count add-on is composed of 2 parts. The first part, available on every view and advanced search, is a display of the number of records in the view (highlighted in red).

The second part is a report that displays a count of active and inactive records for entities selected in the configuration utility.  This quickly and easily allows administrators to see which entities are growing the fastest.

  • Email Signature for Microsoft CRM

The Signature add-on allows the administrator to put a signature template at the bottom of emails created with Microsoft CRM.  When a new email record is created, the signature will automatically appear at the bottom.  Using the configuration tool the signature can be customized to show the user fields you need.

  • Appointment Start Time for Microsoft CRM

When creating appointments or tasks in CRM and the date is changed, the time is automatically set to 12AM (midnight).  This add-on will change the default start time to be whatever is selected.

We just installed the note counter on our CRM and it blew it up. The error we are receiving is Could not load file or assembly 'microsoft.crm.outlook.sdk' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. The program didn't install properly, and then it wouldn't uninstall. We have a 64-bit server. If anyone else tried this and got this error, did you find a fix?

Hi Andy, Thank you for finding a potential install issue.  As we have had over 100 successful installs in the past few days, we look forward to resolving this issue.  Please contact Prosoft support at info@prosoft-sys.com.

Thanks Frank. Frank helped us out last night. We have a 64-bit server. The note count installs in a 32-bit mode. A dll called Microsoft.CRM.Outlook.Sdk was being used by another add-on. It is located at Inetpubwwwrootbin. When note count installed, it replaced the 64-bit version of that dll with a 32-bit version. When the other add-on, the 64-bit one, could not access its 64-bit dll anymore, the CRM website broke. Thanks for the help Frank!

Actually after further review.  It was because the other ISV vendor/product installed was using a beta of Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Sdk.Dll.  Version 4.0.7219.10 released on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 6:15:00 AM.  Our product replaced the beta version with the released/supported version 4.0.7333.3 released on Friday, December 07, 2007 7:13:14 AM.  We will continue to ship our product with the released version of the .Dll.  But be aware, any addon that is using a beta version of this .Dll is at risk of being overwritten by any vendors released addon. Andy - your team was awesome to work with to resolve the issue.

When installing Note Count, I noticed it created the file Microsoft.CRM.Outlook.Sdk in C:inetpubwwwrootbin Now at this point the site was not working anymore with an error regarding Microsoft.CRM.Outlook.Sdk I deleted that file and the site came back up. Is this the fix ? Works for me so far. Haven't seen any issues after that.
