Blog Post webpart on WSS 3.0 Blog Site

Hi All,

On a WSS Blog site on the Posts.aspx we have webpart for displaying posts from the Post List. This is nothing but a list view webpart. Have you ever tried to delete that webpart and add it again to the same page Posts.aspx, NO. My suggestion is PLEASE DO NOT TRY THAT. WHY?

Once you delete that webpart and again add it, it will never show you a single post but it show you all the posts in the POST list, even when you just click on single post to view it, it will show all the posts. This is by design currently and should change in the upcoming releases. In WSS 3.0, blog site uses a specific “freeform” list view part defined in the list schema for posts, comments, and categories. This web part can’t be gotten back when user replace it using the “edit page” feature to other list view web part. This is by Design. So how do we get back to the ORIGINAL STATE, well the only supported way to recover from this situation is to restore the site from backup (you had before deleting the web-part), but the product team acknowledges that the user experience can be improved, and we will put it under consideration for SharePoint vNext.

SO PLEASE DONT PLAY AROUND TOO MUCH with the POST list-view webpart on the BLOG SITE. Ofcourse there would be hacks to get it back to original state, but dont forget those are hacks and might not be supported.
