High quality music streaming over the Internet to your car stereo

You may have heard that Ford SYNC (based on Microsoft's Windows Automotive) will play music from your mp3 player, or even from a USB drive, as the video here shows.  Turns out you can also stream music from either a phone or a laptop via a mobile phone Internet connection and Bluetooth using the A2DP profile.  If you're like me, you may have wondered how good the music would sound streaming over first a cell phone connection and then Bluetooth.

TheRadio.com conducted an experiment to answer this and other questions about the real world experience of streaming music to Ford SYNC.  A few excerpts:

"It's hard to believe we were listening to Internet streams of this quality."

"I am quite pleased at how seamless the handoffs were from one cell tower to the next, added Laramie Guest. Not once did the data session fail to be properly handed off to the next tower."

With the G3 technology bit rates of 128 and higher can be streamed through cell phones now. im using ford sync and a samsung epix cell phone to do this, and being that i have prior experience with internet radio i have set up my pwn station so now i can listen to the music i want to.
