I just stumbled across Brad Appleton's fantastic collection of resources on Lean and Agile software development. Books, presentations, articles and papers, websites and blogs... this is a gold mine for any one who wants to deepen their understanding of lean thinking, and how applying lean thinking can help create better software!
For example, there's a very good article called "Agile Software Management Accounting for Systems" that provides a little theory and some practical guidance for creating a management accounting framwork aligned to both Lean Thinking and Systems Thinking. I might quibble with a few details, but overall it's a great contribution to this emerging field! Note: The article is actually chapter 2 from Anderson's Agile Management for Software Engineering: Applying the Theory of Constraints for Business Results.
