Healthcare 2.0 Perspectives and Industry Impact - HLS Industry Architect Council Event

Blogs, Wikis, podcasts, social networking, mashups, and RSS have become mainstream. Yet, the overall business value and viability of the viral movement is largely unrealized within the Healthcare Industry. This interactive session will showcase current and future state themes, trends, and what Microsoft is doing to help turn vision and potential into reality.

  EVENT AGENDA

Ø 12:30 – 1:00 PM – Lunch

Ø 1:00 – 1:20 PM – Healthcare 2.0 Intro – Business Trends & Industry Perspectives

Ben Flock, Microsoft Health & Life Sciences Industry Advisor, blog: https://benflock.spaces.live.com/default.aspx

The Healthcare & Life Sciences industry has embodied the term “Healthcare 2.0” as its unique reference to Web 2.0. This session will briefly discuss the roots of Healthcare 2.0 and relevant Microsoft insights/activities that will serve as a primer for interactive sessions throughout the day.

Ø 1:20–2:20 PM – “Welcome to the Social: Healthcare and Web 2.0”

Allan Da Costa Pinto, Microsoft Developer Evangelist, blog: https://blogs.msdn.com/allandcp

Curt Devlin, Microsoft Architect Advisor, blog: https://blogs.msdn.com/curtd/

Beyond the hype, the notion of Web 2.0 (social computing, user created content, etc.) has had a profound effect on how applications are envisioned, architected and delivered. Notions of scale, multi-tenancy, software+services are now the norm rather than obscure topics for geeky dinner conversations. In this session, we’ll bring some technology decorum to the rest of the day’s proceedings J and discuss how Microsoft is tackling some of these applications with software+services and tools that you can use.

Ø 2:20–2:30 PM – Break

Ø 2:30–3:15 PM – Enterprise UX – “Empowering HC Communities anywhere, anyplace, anytime”

David Isbitski, Microsoft Developer Evangelist, blog: https://blogs.msdn.com/davedev

IT Departments in today’s enterprise are consistently being asked to do more with less. But how do you accomplish such a feat? One of the often overlooked areas is that of user experience. Bad user experience can cause employee frustration and it costs money in ways not initially thought of. Lost employee productivity hours, increased helpdesk calls, cost of mistakes in financials. Microsoft’s platform today offers both designers and developers a chance to speak the same language. The result is increased end user satisfaction, loyalty, and cost savings to IT.

Ø 3:15–4:15 PM – Cool Microsoft Technologies

Daryll Mcdade, Microsoft Live Team – Windows Live Platform (WLP)

WLP is a set of building block services for delivering rich, interactive experiences around 1) relationships (e.g. Contacts) 2) interactions (e.g. instant messaging) 3) memories and experiences (e.g. Spaces photos) 4) finding and locating (e.g. Mapping/Collections).

Chris Barry, Microsoft ASA Team – Automated Service Agents (ASA)

ASA Solution is a virtual support representative that lives online and provides customer support around the clock, interacting in a natural, conversational style. Customers use a text-chat interface to type questions in their own words and receive immediate responses.

Ø 4:15–5:15 PM Beyond Web 2.0, the Next Frontier

With the hype of Web 2.0, what does it mean to you? What does it mean to your business? In a connected world where global communication is an IP address away, it is the limit of imagination that hinders new applications of technologies.

"I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

                                                       ~ Albert Einstein (1879-1955).

This session will stretch the imagination into the Next Frontier of Web 2.0 Trends and its Implication on Healthcare 2.0.
