.NET Framework 1.0 SP3 and 1.1 SP1 Tech Preview now Available for Download

Oh heck, I love living on the bleeding edge - although not on my production machines. :-)

So here they are - in Tech Preview mode however - the preview versions of the .NET Framework 1.0 SP3 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1

Though these are unsupported technology previews, it's a good opportunity to :

     1. test your apps applications with these service packs applied.

     2. provide feedback to the .NET Product Teams.

     3. live up to your reputation of being geeky :-)

These two service packs address issues with the .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 including:

     - All customer issues addressed with hotfixes

     - Improved importing of WSDL

     - Data Execution prevention

     - Buffer overrun protection

     - ...

The Tech Previews can be downloaded from the Microsoft.com Download Center @

I have yet to see speciically what fixes are addressed in the beta, or what happens when you try to compile VS.NET 2003 apps with it.

Also, that address for the newsgroup has yet to work for me.

    Thanks for the comment Rob!
I double-checked the newsgroup URL & instruction and it seems to work fine here.

As these are private newsgroups, can you make sure your client is configured to logon using the following information:

    Server: privatenews.microsoft.com
    Account name: privatenewstechpreview
    Password: password
(Note that the password is case-sensitive)

After following these steps, you can subscribe to a whole load of groups like :
    microsoft.private.dotnet.framework10sp3.adonet
    microsoft.private.dotnet.framework10sp3.aspnet
    microsoft.private.dotnet.framework11sp1.adonet
    microsoft.private.dotnet.framework10sp1.windowsforms
    ...

I hope this helps Rob! I'm looking forward to meet you on the newsgroups.
