DSL's ICOP-6115 - Tiny, Lower Power
Periodically we like to highlight our partners in the Embedded space. Datasound Laboratories is based in the United Kingdom and focused on Single Board Computers and Touch Screen Panel PC Systems, amongst other Embedded solutions.
I found this in the DSL newsletter today, it's the the new ultra low power ICOP-6115. It measures just 100mm x 66mm and is based on the new Vortex86SX CPU.
It requires just a single +5V DC supply and consumes a mere 300mA. Also it can operate in extended temperature environments ranging from -40°C to +85°C.
Feature wise the module offers everything you would expect from a modern day system if you're looking for a microcontroller or Thin Client as opposed to a gaming machine:
- Incorporating a watchdog timer which is programmable from 30.5 to 512 seconds
- the board will have a long life, guaranteed that 2016 will be the earliest end to production
- 10/100Base-T LAN
- 2 x USB 2.0 ports
- 4 x Serial Ports
- 32-Bit GPIO
- 2MB onboard SPI Flash
- onboard IDE port supporting IDE Flash Drives up to 4GB

This is a really nice product - www.sarsen.net also offer a wide range of embedded, single board solutions that are well worth a look too.
