ISTEP EMEA 2011 - The Power for 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Family for Software Developers by Aaron Coday
Aaron Coday, Manager Application Engineering, VCSD, Intel EMEA
Every other year Intel brings a new processor micro-architecture to the market. New x86 processor micro-architectures always include new capabilities that software developers can and should take advantage of in their applications. In the beginning of 2011, Intel launched the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family (formerly codenamed Sandy Bridge). There are several key areas that software developers can take advantage of, including Intel® Quicksync/Clear Video acceleration technology, Integrated HD Graphics into the die, Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions, Next Generation Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, and of course the raw increase in performance that comes with a new micro-architecture. In this talk, enjoy a brief overview of all of these new features, including why and how developers can use them for additional innovation in their applications.
