Anon. Coward, the GPL is a licence that enforces a specific ethical viewpoint. It's quite possible for something to meet the commonly understood criteria of "open standard", and yet still be imcompatible with that viewpoint. E.g. If you choose to be a vegetarian, don't complain that free burger week at McDonald's is discriminating against you.Anonymous

Rob, No clue whether or not I have the IP address, but I'm sure whoever wrote that didn't mean it (at least I hope not). On a side note though, you really have to take the tin foil hat off man. It will be impossible to have any productive discussions if you're level of trust is so low you would think that was a tactic to discredit the oposition. The anti-OpenXML folks don't need any help from me in that area :-) (semi-kidding there of course) -BrianAnonymous

Hi Brian, Thanks for the reassurance! My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but believe me, it's all been done before. By the way, I note this post was written on March 13, 2009. Since you're a year ahead of everyone else, could you please let us know... what was the DIS29500 final vote outcome? ;-)Anonymous

Oops (fixed now) :-) In 2009 document formats go back to being a boring subject for folks in the blogsphere, and I get stuck posting links to blog posts from the previous year. :-) -BrianAnonymous

Brain, should ISO approve OOXML, you'll never hear the end of it. Should ISO not approve OOXML, you'll never hear the end if it.Anonymous
