Can you trace WCF using Failed Request Tracing
Yes you can. I wrote this blog a long time ago that explains how to setup a Hello World WCF service and consumer. I have also written numerous articles about Failed Request Traces:
- Lab 4: Install and configure Failed Request Tracing
- Lab 16: Configuring Failed Request Tracing to take a memory dump
- Install Failed Request Tracing on IIS 8.5 Server Core
- How to install IIS and Tracing on a Nano for Windows Server 2016
- 500.79 Internal Server Error
- Enable Failed Request Tracing for an Azure App Service Web App
- What’s new in IIS 10
Simply, it works just like any other supported file / request type, nothing special is required. I was looking for confirmation and wasn’t able to find any direct hit for my query so I wrote this. See Figure 1 and Figure 2 where a request to an SVC file is captured and traced.
