IDictionaryEnumerator.Entry Property

Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Gets both the key and the value of the current dictionary entry.

Namespace:  System.Collections
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
ReadOnly Property Entry As DictionaryEntry
DictionaryEntry Entry { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Collections.DictionaryEntry
A DictionaryEntry containing both the key and the value of the current dictionary entry.

Exceptions

Exception Condition
InvalidOperationException

The IDictionaryEnumerator is positioned before the first entry of the dictionary or after the last entry.

Remarks

After an enumerator is created or after the Reset method is called, the MoveNext method must be called to advance the enumerator to the first element of the collection before reading the value of the Entry property; otherwise, Entry is undefined.

Entry also throws an exception if the last call to MoveNext returned false, which indicates the end of the collection.

Entry does not move the position of the enumerator, and consecutive calls to Entry return the same object until either MoveNext or Reset is called.

Notes to Implementers

The Current property that is inherited from IEnumerator returns an Object that is a boxed DictionaryEntry, similar to the return value of the Entry property.
