Decline updates
Updated: March 10, 2009
Applies To: Windows SBS 2008
Windows SBS 2008 is configured to display only the updates that apply to at least one of the computers on your network. This makes it easier for you to manage updates. However, even if an update applies to computers on your network, there might be instances where you do not want to install the update. In these instances, you can choose to decline the update.
Decline an update
Complete the following procedure to decline an update.
Note
You must be a network administrator to complete this procedure.
To decline an update
Open the Windows SBS Console.
Click Security, and then click Updates.
Click the updates that you want to decline, and then click Decline the update.
Click OK in the confirmation dialog.
Note
You do not need to decline update types that do not belong to one of the update levels that use automatic approval in order to prevent them from being installed. If you do not approve or decline them, they are not installed. They continue to appear in Optional updates until they reach their expiration date or they are superseded.
