Configure FSE to use a proxy server

To configure FSE to use a proxy server

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Forefront Server Security, click Exchange Server, and then click Forefront Server Security Administrator.

  2. On the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.

  3. On the Connect to Server dialog box, select your server name in the drop-down menu, and then click OK.

  4. Click the Settings tab, and then click General Options.

  5. In the Scanner Updates section, select Use Proxy Settings.

  6. Enter information about the proxy server. For more information about what to enter, see the FSE Proxy Settings table.

To restart the FSE service

  1. Stop the Exchange services.

  2. Open a Command Prompt window, type the following, and then press ENTER:

    FSCUtility /disable

  3. At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER:

    FSCUtility /enable

  4. Restart the Exchange services.

FSE Proxy Settings

Setting Description

Use Proxy Settings

Indicates that proxy settings are to be used when retrieving antivirus scanner updates. Disabled by default.

Use UNC Credentials (do not select)

Indicates that Universal Naming Convention (UNC) credentials are needed when retrieving antivirus scanner updates. Disabled by default.

Proxy Server Name/IP Address

The name or IP address of the proxy server. Required, if using proxy settings when retrieving antivirus scanner updates.

Proxy Port

Indicates the port number of the proxy server. Required, if using proxy settings when retrieving antivirus scanner updates. The default is port 80.

Proxy Username (optional)

The name of a user with access rights to the proxy server, if necessary.

Proxy Password (optional)

The appropriate password for the proxy user name, if necessary.

UNC Username (not used)

The name of a user with access rights to the UNC path, if necessary.

UNC Password (not used)

The appropriate password for the UNC user name, if necessary.
