Expression dialog box: Address tab

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Expression dialog box: Address tab

Use this tab to specify the address you want to find or to add or edit an address expression in a display filter decision tree. The Station 1 and Station 2 boxes display all of the addresses contained in the currently loaded address database. For each address, the friendly name, address, type of address (protocol), and associated comments are included.

  • Expression
The address expression that you want to locate or to add to a display filter decision tree. The display changes as you select items in other areas of the dialog box. When you click OK, the displayed expression is added to the display filter decision tree or used as the search criteria for frames. Any other changes you make are lost. The Expression text box appears regardless of which tab you select. You cannot edit the expression directly.
  • Station 1 (and Station 2)
The computer addresses between which you want to monitor traffic or that you want to locate. If you do not specify the local computer as either Station 1 or Station 2, no data will appear when you apply the filter.
  • Direction
An arrow that indicates the traffic direction that you want to monitor or locate. For example, to identify traffic that travels from Computer 1 to Computer 2, select the Computer 1 name, the --> symbol, and then the Computer 2 name.

Other tabs in this dialog box: Expression dialog box: Protocol tab, Expression dialog box: Property tab

Note

  • You should specify BROADCAST, MULTICAST, and FUNCTIONAL only as destination addresses. If you construct a statement in which the source address is either broadcast or multicast, you filter out all frames. Broadcast and multicast are always destination addresses.
