New features of remote access
Routing and Remote Access provides the following new features:
Support for pre-shared keys in L2TP/IPSec authentication
You can configure a server running Routing and Remote Access to use a pre-shared key instead of a certificate for L2TP/IPSec VPN connections. For more information, see Pre-shared keys.
Integration of network address translation (NAT) and static and dynamic packet filtering
NAT interfaces can be configured to work with Basic Firewall, a simple dynamic packet filter, or with incoming or outgoing static packet filters. For more information, see Basic Firewall.
Support for L2TP/IPSec connections over NAT
Routing and Remote Access seamlessly translates L2TP/IPSec VPN connections over a NAT interface. For more information, see Virtual Private Networks.
Broadcast name resolution for small networks without a local WINS or DNS server
Small networks or branch offices without local WINS or DNS servers can resolve corporate resource network names. For more information, see Broadcast name resolution.
