Preliminary Steps to Configuring LDAP Connections
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1
Because some settings on the LDAP Routing tab affect others, it is recommended that you plan before configuring Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
Determine the schema type to use.
Determine the level of authentication that will be needed to bind to the LDAP directory. If the LDAP server you connect to does not require authentication, no account information is necessary.
Determine if you need to specify a naming context. A naming context may be necessary if the user accounts reside in a subcontainer within the LDAP directory. Specifying a naming context may allow the LDAP directory to return results more quickly and, in some cases, is necessary if there are multiple naming contexts on the LDAP server.
