IPv6 renew (Compact 2013)
3/26/2014
The ipv6 renew command renews a DHCPv6 address lease on an interface.
Syntax
ipv6 renew [ifindex]
Options
The following table describes each ipv6 renew option. These options are not case-sensitive.
Option |
Description |
---|---|
ifindex |
Indicates the index number of the interface for which to renew an address lease. If you do not specify an interface, ipv6 renew renews address leases on all IPv6 interfaces. You can use the IPConfig command to determine the interface index number that corresponds to a particular IP address. |
Remarks
This command causes the DHCPv6 client to send a Renew message to the DHCPv6 server that originally provided the address and configuration parameters for the interface. The Renew message causes the DHCPv6 server to extend the lifetime of the address assigned to the specified interface and to update any other configuration parameters for that interface. For more information about DHCPv6 Renew messages, see RFC 3315.
Example
The following example shows how to renew the address lease on interface index 2.
