Networking (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

Learn about adding support for connecting Windows Embedded Compact 2013 devices to a network, plus links to reference information.

You can add support for connecting a Windows Embedded Compact powered device to a network, such as a Wi-Fi network, a Cellular Radio (CellCore) network, or a wired local area network (LAN).

You can also add network technologies, such as Windows Filtering Platform or a Firewall Service to filter network traffic, or the Telephony API (TAPI) to make phone calls over a network connection.

  • Assisted Telephony API Reference
Provides reference information for the Assisted Telephony API, which you use to make telephone calls without requiring the full TAPI.
  • Connection Manager
Provides reference information for Connection Manager, which you use to establish and manage device network connections.
  • Dial-up Networking Reference
Provides reference information for dial-up networking, which enables remote network access by using Remote Access Service (RAS) and the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP).
  • Domain Discovery
Provides reference information for Domain Discovery, which a device uses to discover a domain controller by using Active Directory Domain Services.
  • Extended Telephony API
Provides reference information for Extended Telephony API, which you can use with the Telephony API to gain access to additional information such as the call waiting state, current operator, system type, radio module, signal strength, and device type.
  • Extensible Authentication Protocol
Provides reference information for Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), which you use to create extensions for authentication methods.
  • Extensible Authentication Protocol Host
Provides reference information for the Extensible Authentication Protocol Host controller, an EAP state machine (RFC 3748 compliance) which supports network discovery (RFC 4284 compliance) and expanded EAP Types.
  • FTP Server Reference
Provides reference information for a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server, which you use to copy files between a device and a remote computer over a TCP/IP network.
  • Internet Connection Sharing Reference
Provides reference information for Internet Connection Sharing, which you use to connect multiple devices on a network to the Internet through a gateway connection.
  • IP Helper
Provides reference information for Internet Protocol (IP) Helper, which you use to retrieve and modify network configuration settings.
  • IPSec
Provides reference information for Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) version 4 protocol.
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
Provides reference information for LDAP, which you use to access a membership directory on the Internet that stores names, addresses, phone numbers, and other types of information.
  • Link Layer Topology Discovery
Provides reference information for Link Layer Topology Discovery, which you use to discover devices on your local network.
  • Management Information Base (MIB)
Provides reference information for Management Information Base, which you use to retrieve information about managed resources for a system on a network.
  • NDIS Packet Capturing Reference
Provides reference information about Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) packet capturing, which creates logs of network traffic and produces files that can be read by NetMon.
  • Network Bridging Reference
Provides reference information for Network Bridging, which you use to connect multiple Ethernet network segments into a single subnet.
  • Network User Interface
Provides reference information for Network User Interface, which you use to customize the UI for the Network and Dial-up Connections Control Panel item.
