Remote Desktop Protocol (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) implementation for Windows Embedded CE lets you connect remotely to a desktop computer that is running Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista, or to a server that is running Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, later versions of Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2008 operating system.

In This Section

  • RDP OS Design Development
Provides information to help you design an operating system (OS) that works with RDP. Provides an overview of RDP and information about how to run Windows Embedded CE Terminal Services Client (CETSC). CETSC is software that enables a Windows Embedded CE powered device to access Windows-based applications on the Terminal Server. CETSC manages the user interface, and is derived from the Microsoft Terminal Services Client (MSTSC) found on Windows-based desktop systems.
  • RDP Application Development
Provides information to help you design an application that works with RDP. Includes information about Terminal Services sessions, RDP support in Windows Embedded CE, implementing virtual channels, and programming guidelines.
  • RDP Security
Helps provide security information about RDP and best practices for implementation.
  • RDP Migration
Presents information that is important to know if you are migrating from one version of Windows Embedded CE to another, migrating to RDP 5.1, or migrating to RDP 5.2.
  • RDP Samples
Contains descriptions of the locations of code samples that show you how to use RDP.
  • RDP Reference
Contains descriptions of RDP programming elements.
  • Windows Thin Client Design Template
Provides the starting point for creating remote-desktop terminals through support for Microsoft RDP. This thin client is a minimal version of Windows Embedded CE that includes the core operating system (OS) and technologies necessary to support a Remote Desktop device.
  • Enterprise Terminal Design Template
Provides a starting point for business terminals and transaction devices such as self-service kiosks, retail point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and electronic payment terminals.
  • Internet Appliance Design Template
Provides a starting point for stationery, browser-based consumer Internet appliances with a fixed display, such as a CRT or LCD, and a keyboard.
  • Windows Network Projector Design Template
Provides the starting point for an IP-based display device which uses Remote Desktop Protocol over an IP network to display the contents from a Windows Vista-based computer desktop onto a large screen display.
