CreateSnapshot method of the MSFT_SMStorageVolume class

Starts a job to create an associated un-synced snapshot of the MSFT_SMStorageVolume.

Syntax

uint32 CreateSnapshot(
  [in, optional] string ElementName,
  [out, optional] MSFT_SMStorageVolume REF TargetStorageVolume,
  [in, optional] MSFT_SMPool REF TargetPool,
  [in, optional] String username,
  [in, optional] String password,
  [out] MSFT_SMJob REF Job,
  [out, optional] MSFT_SMExtendedStatus ExtendedStatus
);

Parameters

ElementName [in, optional]

End-user relevant name for the element being created. If NULL, then a system supplied name is used.

TargetStorageVolume [out, optional]

A reference to the created target storage element, that is the replica. If a job is created, the target element may not be available immediately.

TargetPool [in, optional]

The underlying storage for the target element (the replica) will be drawn from TargetPool if specified, otherwise the allocation is implementation specific.

username [in, optional]

Used to authenticate with the SMI-S provider. If not provided, the storage service attempts to obtain these credentials from the configuration provider.

password [in, optional]

Used to authenticate with the SMI-S provider. If not provided, the storage service attempts to obtain these credentials from the configuration provider.

Job [out]

Reference to the MSFT_SMJob instance. May be NULL if the job is completed.

ExtendedStatus [out, optional]

An MSFT_SMExtendedStatus object containing the results of calling this method.
