Shortcut Dimension 2 Code Field, General Ledger Setup Table

Specifies the code for Shortcut Dimension 2. The program automatically allocates to Shortcut Dimension 2 the same dimension code as the one you entered in the Global Dimension 2 field. If you alter the Global dimension 2 code, the Shortcut Dimension 2 code will also be altered.

Shortcut dimensions offer a fast and convenient way for you to enter dimension information directly on the line in journals and in sales and purchase documents. For example, in a purchase document, on the Lines FastTab, you can click Actions, Choose Columns, and select the shortcut dimensions that you use frequently in that particular document. To enter dimensions information for dimensions not selected as shortcuts, the user must use a separate dimensions window.

Shortcut Dimensions 1 and 2 are available on sales and purchase document headers so that you can easily enter dimension values for the header, for example, for a particular customer. To enter dimension information on the header for dimensions other than Shortcut Dimensions 1 and 2, you must use a separate dimensions window.

You can analyze shortcut dimension entries, as well as all other dimension entries, using the analysis view function.

Note that the program will automatically rename all Shortcut Dimension 2 fields with the code caption you have entered for Global Dimension 2 in the Dimension table.
