IWMDMDevice::SendOpaqueCommand

The SendOpaqueCommand method sends a device-specific command to the device through Windows Media Device Manager. Windows Media Device Manager does not attempt to read the command.

Syntax

HRESULT SendOpaqueCommand(OPAQUECOMMAND*pCommand);

Parameters

pCommand

[in, out]  Pointer to an OPAQUECOMMAND structure specifying the information required to execute the command. If the device returns data, it is returned through the pData member of pCommand.

Return Values

The method returns an HRESULT. All the interface methods in Windows Media Device Manager can return any of the following classes of error codes:

  • Standard COM error codes
  • Windows error codes converted to HRESULT values
  • Windows Media Device Manager error codes

Possible values include, but are not limited to, those in the following table.

Return code Description
S_OK The method succeeded.
E_INVALIDARG A parameter is invalid or a NULL pointer.
E_FAIL An unspecified error occurred.

Remarks

This method is intended for device commands that do not affect the operation of Windows Media Device Manager and are passed through unchanged.

Example Code

The following code performs a simplified extended authentication procedure with a device. This procedure is specific to a device.
