Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Mathias Olausson

This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. See An index to all Rangers covered on this blog for more details.

Who you are?

I work as an ALM consultant, where I focus on software architecture and improving software development processes.

What makes you “tick”?

I’ve been in the software business for a long time now. What I really like is working software. As a developer, trainer and mentor I get to meet lots of people and see lots of projects. When I get to use my experience to help someone build better software it really makes my day.

I’m also involved in local communities, such as the Swedish .NET community SweNug, I think these communities are nice ways for people to meet and talk about experiences and look at new stuff.

Where you live?

I live in the small town of Lerum on the Swedish west-coast with my wife and two kids.

Where is the place you call home?

Although I travel quite a lot, home is where I live.

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

I think the Rangers program can help people adopt Microsoft technologies in a very practical, hands-on way. Personally I enjoy sharing whatever knowledge I’ve gained and the Rangers projects have been great for doing so.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

My favorite engagement with the Rangers has been in the TFS Integration Platform. This project was very active and we had great interactions with both the Microsoft team and the other Rangers. I think this project is a good example of how the TFS platform can be extended and I believe we will see a plethora of adapters on the market allowing integration with TFS from all sorts of tools.
