Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Bryon Root

This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. SeeRanger Index (Who is Who?)for more details.

Who you are?

Bryon is an ALM Consultant at Northwest Cadence and has been in the information technology industry since 1999. His many years of experience centers around Configuration Management, Builds, Release Management and Continuous Delivery, DevOps, Scrum, and Kanban. Bryon has worked with a number of teams to bridge gaps between development and operations. In addition, he has worked with teams, and organizations to deploy and adopt Application Lifecycle practices to improve software development, testing, and delivery process.FirstPic

What makes you “tick”?

Breaking down the barriers and old rooted perceptions that prevent teams from achieving the full ALM concepts and practices. It’s very satisfying when you can match the new ALM tools and practices to deliver value to a customer.  It is even better when the customer has that “Ah-Ha” moment and sees the entire picture of what the ALM process offers and how it can improve their processes from development to delivery.

Where you live?

Renton Washington USA

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

To provide feedback to improve the tool and process.  There is nothing like real world testing to find the bug and gotchas. Providing the feedback loop of the gotchas and bugs not only helps product improvement, it helps the customer experiences.  To be somewhat selfish, If the TFS product improves, my customers are happier and I get to keep my job.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

I have not work directly on any project yet. I’m excited to get my hand dirty on one.
