Cheating the Imagine Cup...

...well sort of! :)

Ian and I are about to embark on a journey hopefully many of you students out there will be on as well, competing in the Software Design UK competition of the Imagine Cup. Ian and I thought it would be a laugh and a big help to many of you out there if we showed how simple it is to get started in the SDC and will be entering it ourselves (well, pretending to!). I am going to be the brains (ideas man) and Ian is going to be the braun (code monkey) in this operation in what will be called 'Enter the SDC in 9 hours or less'.

On Friday this week Ian and I will:

  •  think of an idea for this year's competition - 'Imagine a world where technology enables people to lead healthier lives'
  • design a technology solution for this idea
  •  write some code to demonstrate the best or most interesting bit of the design
  •  fill in the application form
  • create an A0 poster presentation
  • create a PowerPoint presentation in the unlikely event (because we aren't entering) that we get through to the finals on 10th March

And all of this in the space of one normal work day, including taking time out for lunch and maybe a game of pool! The best bit of this is we will upload the results (however rough and ready) to the blog for others to download. Check back Friday!
