Welcome Charlie

My old friend and colleague, Charlie Calvert, has recently joined the C# team as a Program Manager.  I'm really excited about having Charlie on the VS languages team, not just because it's great to have another old friend move to town but also because I have a great amount of respect for his abilities.  Many of you may already be familiar with Charlie from his fine books and articles or his many years of developer relations work at Borland.  Chief among Charlie's duties will be to act as the interface between the C# product unit and the C# community, and I can't think of someone better suited to the task.

Charlie joins a number of other ex-Borlanders here at Microsoft, including Anders, Chuck, Blake, Danny, me, and several others.  It seems like we should start some kind club.  Maybe even something with a secret handshake! Or better yet, go all out and do the whole shadowy Masonic/Illuminati/Priory of Sion thing! Hmmm, that sounds like a lot of work.  Maybe we'll all just stick to saying "hi" to each other in the hallways.

    Hi Steve,

Yes, its great to be here at Microsoft, and to be sitting in the same building with you again. Now we can go out to lunch together, hang out, and just generally be work buddies. It just like old times -- only its bigger and there is more of us....

Having Anders, Blake, Chuck and Danny all involved just helps to make it that much better. I went over to a language symposium held on campus yesterday. I saw this guy sitting near me who looked a little familiar. He turned around, and low and behold, it was Danny Thorpe, come up from the Bay area to visit us. Amazing.

The name I've heard used, mostly with affection, was the Dead Borland Society. Given Borland ain't Borland anymore (cf DevCo), perhaps it is not inappropriate even out of jest.
