Known Issue In Cumulative Updates For SQL Server 2005 SP2, SP3, SQL Server 2008 RTM, SP1 In Analysis Services Partition Processing Engine

We have learned of degraded customer experience with …

· SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) Cumulative Update 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.

· SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (SP3) Cumulative Update 3, 4 and 5.

· The release version of SQL Server 2008 Cumulative Update 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

· SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) release version, Cumulative Update 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Build number ranges below.

 

Customers using SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Analysis Services may see the symptom as described in KB 975783. This KB article provides details of available workarounds and information about hotfix packages which rectify the issue as they become available. For SQL Server 2008 RTM and SQL Server 2008 SP1 we anticipate releasing the fix next week. For SQL Server 2005 SP3 customers, the fix is available in CU6 – KB 974648. Customers of SQL Server 2005 SP2, a hotfix solution will be available in the next Cumulative Update.
