    I have installed SP1 CU6 but it fails to include the CU3 update to the ms analysis services oledb driver so after install i am still left with MS AS OLEDB 2014 version 12.1.4100.1. This requires then reapplying CU3 to get 12.1.4427.24

    Does this CU include a hotfix for https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3097972 or it still advised to install a stand-alone update on top of CU4 as it mentioned in referenced article?

    It looks like CU6 does not include CU3 which upgraded the MS AS OLE DB driver? I had to run CU3 afterwards in order to upgrade the driver version as reported in control panel

      Hi Bob - We do not currently include SQL_AS_OLEDB.msi in subsequent CU releases after an update is made (e.g. SQL2014 SP2 CU3). We understand that it is not intuitive for our customers to locate the latest version of the standalone MSIs when they are not included cumulatively in subsequent CUs, so we are currently migrating servicing of many MSIs to a different model where a single Microsoft.com/downloads page will always host the latest version of the particular MSI. All subsequent KB articles describing resolved issues will point to this single site.An example of this model today is: ;. A newer version of SQL_AS_OLEDB.msi is currently in test, please stay tuned for it. It will be released on a new download center page, and the associated KB article(s) will contain pointers to that site. Registration will no longer be required.Thank You!SQL Server Tiger Team

        cumulative : including or adding together all of the things that came before : made up of accumulated parts b : increasing by successive additionsThis specific issue doesn't even affect me, and we are grateful for cumulative updates... but don't call updates cumulative if they aren't cumulative.

            I agree with Rick. If an update was included with CU3, it should be included in subsequent CUs.

        Hi,I've just discovered to be a new servicing model victim. After that change for downloading CUs I simply can't find a 2014 SP1 CU5 download link anymore. I'm adding a cluster node and want to keep the same CU to prevent unpredictable results. All download links for previous CUs are vanished and I am forced to download CU6. If I hadn't a CU5 msi in one of my servers I would have a lot of unplanned additional work and downtime to update my instance.I understand you guys are trying to reduce confusion around CUs, but customers should be free to download prior version. Please fix that ASAP.Thanks!!

          Hello, We now recommend ongoing, proactive installation of CU’s as they become available. Therefore, as announced back in March, we are now placing the latest CU per mainstream supported baseline (2012 SP2/SP3 and 2014 RTM/SP1 today) on microsoft.com/downloads, just as is done for Service Packs today.Previously released CUs will still be available for download from the Windows Update Catalog (starting shortly), or the hotfix sever for CUs released prior to January 2016 (so you can file a request with CSS to obtain a previous CU).You can read more about the Incremental Servicing Model announcements here: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlreleaseservices/announcing-updates-to-the-sql-server-incremental-servicing-model-ism/

    Cumulative updates should be just that, cumulative, i.e. contain all updates in all CU's since the last SP.Come on Microsoft, you can and should do better.

    I think there may be an error in KB3144524, in the paragraph under the heading "More information about deprecation of the older build," which begins "With Cumulative Update 5 (build number 12.0.4449.0)..."Shouldn't this be "With Cumulative Update 6 (build number 12.0.4449.0)"?Indeed, it's unfortunate there are now two different builds called "Cumulative Update 6." If this situation occurs again, could you please give the new software a different name, like "Cumulative Update 6a"?

      Thank you for reporting the typo - we are fixing it right now. About the release, all SQL Server releases are primarily identified by their build numbers. Also, to make it easier to identify once installed, by executing SELECT @@VERSION, the new string reads "Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (SP1-CU6-OD) (KB3167392) - 12.0.4457.0 (X64) May 26 2016 23:44:09."

        I think you really did not address the suggestion directly, which I think is a good suggestion. Yes, using @@version, we can find the KB and other needed info. But this does not change the fact that there have been two CU6 (in name at least) but with different version #. Just thinking of this scenario, I have applied the older CU6 and now I need to tell my manger that I want to apply new CU6, you see, I have to use adjectives like "old" and "new" to convey my ideas, however, if I can say, I applied CU6 and because of some bug, we need to apply CU6a, isn't it better ?

    When can we expect SQL2014 SP2? SP1 was released over a year ago (well over a year ago if you count the withdrawn version).

    I have been unable to find or download the rereleased CU6 for SQL Server 2014 with SP1. There are links to it but they all point you to CU7. My Management Studio keeps freezing, since I upgraded to CU6 and then CU7, a few days ago. I had no problems until CU7, even after doing a complete uninstall, a fresh install of SQL 2014, SP1, and then CU7. Mgmt Studio freezes after a few to several minutes.
