New AVIcode version released and the top new features

In December 2010 AVIcode released version 5.7 of Intercept Studio. Some of the hot new features are:
-added built in support for .NET 4.0 framework and MVC style applciations
-the ability to manage event state and create rules to manage events
-and a web application scanner which analyzes your site for the gotchas that may happen when using AVICode uX user health monitoring.

The ability to monitor applications built using MVC. MVC applications have unique structures and require the ability to see these as part of an event so they make sense.

Important MVC Variables like Routing Url and Controller name are collected as part of the informatiuon allowing to understand and recreate the transaction.

MVC stacks include data specific to MVC applicatios as well. The action being executed with parameters are inlcuded in the stack. Member variables of the failed function or other intersting functions in the stack are included to help undertsand the full application state at the time of the exception.

Now using the AVIcode SEViewer event console to manage problems is easier than before. By setting and events state you can track a problems stage of resolution. 4 event states are avaialalbe: 'New' - which needs little explanation and simply catagorizes an event as being new, 'By design'  - which is exactly as stated, it is an event that happens as expected by design, 'Deleted' - which is simply an event that has been deleted previously, and 'Reviewed' - which indicates someone is reviewing the problem and we are awaiting resolution.

Why is this useful? Well for someone looking for a problem management solution maybe not very, especially with things like System Center Service Manager around. But as another method of finding what's important and fishing through huge amounts of data that can be overwhelming, it's a must have. Also now my reports in AVIcode's reporting application 'Advisor' are more meaningful and include what I care about.

User health monitoring has always been one of my favorite topics since back in my days at Candle Corporation when I specialized user monitoring. AVIcode's uX capability has been one of the more powerful features of Intercept Studio it has become a major player and a major piece of end-to-end monitoring. Some challenges in the past when trying to use AVICode uX monitoring was how the ASP.NET site was developed and is it meeting certain standards. AVICode has now added a web site scanner to its uX health monitoring which kicks off when you configure an application to be monitored. It will test for certain standards and alert of variances which may impact uX monitoring. Monitoring may be capable even though all standards are not met, consider this a heads up warning.
