Which SDK gives me access to the System.Speech namespace?
Josh posted: "I installed the Speech SDK v 5.1 but don't have access to the System.Speech.Synthesis namespace. Do I need to add a reference to it?"
You'll need the WinFX SDK for Avalon & Indigo beta 1 RC 1. Here are some instructions for how to get this and install it.

Robert -
I posted a message angled towards you on Microsoft.Public.Windows.Developer.WinFX.Avalon. If you could get a chance to reply, I'd very much appreciate it. I'm stumped and not making any more progress on my software. ^^
The message was posted under DavidP@ByteNik.com. Here's a direct link (using Google groups):

Thanks for the additional information concerning the requirements of using the namespace.
Using this information I tested the System.Speech.Synthesis example using "Bob, Mike, and Mary" voices, but that leads me to three questions.
1) Is there any good developers design documentation for the System.Speech.X assemblies, the only doc's in the SDK are the class notes?
1) Since, I couldn't find a list of availabe voices in the WinFX class notes docuemtation, how do I know what set of voices are available?
2) Are there any voices shipped with WinFX that aren't so mechanical-sounding?
Thanks,

Thanks for the info. I have three quick questions:
1. Where can I find good documentation describing the programming model to use with the System.Speech namespace?
2. How do I know which voices are there by default? i.e. "Microsoft Mike"
3. Are there any non mechanical sounding voices that are included?
Thanks,
Anthony
