Interactive Media Manager (IMM)

As I mentioned in my initial blog post, I am a Developer Evangelist focused on the Communications Sector at Microsoft, which includes telecommunications companies as well as media & entertainment companies.  Interactive Media Manager (IMM) was announced at the 2007 National Association of Broadcasters conference (NAB2007) as a next-generation digital content management solution that combines digital workflows and media application integration with a collaborative front-end environment.

The solution is built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 so it is web-based, providing great support for Mac OS.   IMM supports Internet Explorer®, Firefox and Safari on Windows® as well as Mac OS.  Tasks can be pushed to Outlook or to an RSS feed.  It is a very interesting solution that demonstrates the power of MOSS 2007 and Windows Workflow.  More information on IMM is available here and the glossy can be downloaded via this link.  The solution leverages the built-in workflow features in MOSS 2007 and adds a set of IMM Web Parts on top as well to allow video asset review and annotation.

If you need more information on IMM drop me an email.

Hi Rob, Do you have any idea when IMM will be available? I desperately need IMM for a stealth project :-)

Hi Rob We are looking for solutions for the print publishing industry. Would IMM be helpful by managing "still images" (Photoshop, Illustrator, ...) and documents (InDesign-, XPress, ...). Do you know of any products in this area or are there any plans on having such a solution on top of WSS/MOSS? Thankx! Cheers Harry

Hi Harry, For Print/Publishing IMM integrates with a partner solution from Equilibrium that provides Photoshop, RAW, TIFF, and Illustrator file ingest and preview capabilities. InDesign and Xpress are not currently supported as of this blog post.
