Creating a Model, a math model that is

If you are like me an male, then the idea of creating a model has many manifestations in my mind.  So to be clear here, I am talking about a math model.

How do you go about doing that? Start by going to:

https://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/cambridge/projects/infernet/docs/InferNet101.pdf

This is a good tutorial (article format) on how to create mathematical based models, is especially good as it covers probability distributions, which could be useful for Engineering as well as statistic oriented college majors.  Think about it, this would be a great basis for a paper!

This is a sweet tutorial/paper as it takes a common model program: Time for friends to cycle to work and then shows you how to apply a probability model to the problem.

If I was a professor trying to show students how to use software, real software programming that can be done with free tools, then this 71 page article could be used for a text within curriculum.

So take a look at this excellent tutorial, and you will also learn how to create models using Infer.net.  Pretty cool stuff.
