Download updates for Dr Watson (drwtsn32.exe)
Hello, you have likely just arrived from the Windows Error Reporting site because you received the response that Dr. Watson (Drwtsn32.exe.) caused a problem with Windows XP.
To disable Dr. Watson so you don't get this error any more click here and follow these instructions.
When prompted, answer the following to questions like this.
Do you want to run or save the file? Click Run
Are you sure you want to add .... to the registry? Click Yes.
Is it safe? Yes, the registry file is simply changing the configuration of your system so it doesn't run Dr. Watson anymore when a program crashes.
Do you need Dr. Watson? No, the system already has Windows Error Reporting and the Dr. Watson debugger would be used by advanced users to collect more information that could be later be used by someone who knows how to use the Windows Debugger.
Why didn't this fix my problem Internet Explorer, Outlook, etc? Unfortunately, another application crashed and then Dr. Watson crashes. I'm sorry, but this only fixes the Dr. Watson crash.
Why can't I open the file? The file is a registry file (.reg) and some anti-malware program may block access to it. In which case you will need to manually change the registry using the original article. Click here to read the original article.
Why does this problem occur? This problem occurs because Dr. Watson is processing the name of a file incorrectly and it causes the crashes. The current lifecycle of Microsoft Window XP fixes only security problems and the workaround is safe and easy. Click here to read the original article.
I hope that this helps you get rid of Dr Watson crashing after you already had another application crash.

Why is this always happening on my computer? I also am not very computer literate and most of the time don't know what the heck I'm suppose to do to fix problems. This the first time that the Dr Watson "fix" notification has shown up. I have been kicked off the Net many times after trying to open a link within a running program (i.e. OUTLOOK EXPRESS email. I have not as yet been able to determine how to fix this problem.Anonymous

I did the actions that were suggested at the top of this informational page, but they did not solve the problem. The same error message has appeared. I also called MS Windows Full Support and was online with them for an hour and they could not fix the problem. What's up? Since I got this site from Microsoft, I hope this solution works. I'm using Roxio MY DVD 10 and am tired of Dr. Watson blocking me from making my slideshows. All portions used are my own photo, music and naturally text. At times it may run too long which can be simply corrected, like with a VCR player, you have EP, LP or SP, if changing the setting doesn't work, simply shorten the slideshow but Dr. Watson prevents these correction from being made, claiming they are an error, only in my judgement. I am very illiterate when it comes to understand much of what happens on a computer. I am getting tired of messages that are complex or in "greek". Hopefully someday they will make understanding computers much easier....this includes giving me the option to click on the message and having it explained in simple English. For instance I send a a20 page story to someone and then a message asks something about "notebook" but I haven't the faintest idea what it is or how to answer. I usually check No and so far I haven't encountered problems, but then maybe I have them and don't know it.Anonymous

Thanks for the help. One point though: I didn't get an option to run on the first step only to save. So then I had to 'OPEN' the file in Downloads & it popped up the usual "do you really want to do this" query. I did NOT download any updates, as I was not aware I had Dr Watson. I DID, however, disable Dr Watson. We'll see how that works out! I TRY to do the least amount necessary to work out a problem, therefore, it's easier for YOU GUYS to take off stuff, as I try NOT to download anything that I don't have to! Thanks again. I have just read all about Dr. Watson but have no idea what the original crash (that triggered Dr. W to crash) was, or why, as the error message was in computer language. How do I find out? Why should I disable it? If it wasn't required why was it installed in the first place. You have to provide an explanation not just -Oh!, is it a problem? just disable it by visting this website!!! [Comment from John: Sorry if I wasn't clear. Dr. Watson has shipped with the operating system so application programmers could get a snapshot of the problem when the program crashes. This is the first time I've had this problem & the only thing I've done to my PC today is upgrade NORTON Internet Security from 07 to 08 version. Could it have something to do with Nortons??? William Coopers comment is ditto for me also ! I try to close a popup window, get error message and off the net I go time after time after time. Tonight DrWatson error message came up. What is causing this and is it fixable ?Anonymous
