News: Microsoft Acquires Winternals (Sysinternals)
Wow. Sysinternals freeware tools are very popular among the teams here at MS and I use them on an almost daily basis. Winternals is the parent company and Microsoft just acquired them. Read more about it on Google News.
My favorite tools are Registry Monitor (RegMon) and Process Explorer (ProcExp). I’m trying out File Monitor (FileMon).
It will be very interesting to see what Microsoft does with the tools. I hope the sysinternals tools remain free and maintained. Sometimes MS makes acquisitions like this more for the people as it does for the technologies. Don’t know about this case specifically, but it looks like it to me.

Weren't these the guys who sprang to fame with their Windows NT System call hooking to defeat the dual process defense that stopped you converting Workstation to Server?
Now Vista is about to come out with multiple flavours and they buy the company.
Hmmm....
