My Book is Published - Pro VSTS by Wrox

It’s about time I blog that… my book has been published!  Professional Visual Studio 2005 Team System by Wrox Press. 

This has been over a year in the making!  #1 thanks goes out to Jean-Luc David, the lead author.  Not only did he let me participate in the book, but he was very easy to work with and has become a great friend in the process.

Our book is focussed on the deep technical and usage details of Team System.  It covers how to use the tool, customise, and extensibility.  I only wrote one chapter, #17 on Generic Testing, but it has some of the best code examples (in my humble opinion).  There’s a great section about Running NUnit Tests & Importing Results into the Team Test engine.

Jean-Luc happened to come into town the week the book hit the shelves, so we called up Erik and went to the local Barnes & Noble to sign the books.  It was fun!  It’s cool being a “published author”.

There are several other great Team System books out including:

• Software Engineering with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System by Sam Guckenheimer & Juan J. Perez
  Focuses on the software development lifecycle, the grand vision of what VSTS is designed for.  Primarily covers managing projects, reporting, and methodology.  A great, easy read!!

• Working with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System by Richard Hundhausen
  A 200–level introduction that answers the question “What is Team System?”

It’s a blast being “an author”.  I can check that off my life list of things to do (literally).  What’s next?  Well I’d love to write more someday.  It’s a real time commitment.  But obviously I like to write, blog, etc so someday there’ll be another, I’m sure of it.  In the mean time, I hope people really enjoy this book and get a lot of it.  Rock on with Team System!

  Congratulations, Noah, on the publication of your first book--whoop!  As difficult as it was to carve out the time to get that chapter written, it's obvious that it was all worth it.  Now that the book is published, you seem to be having FUN with it and enjoying the well-deserved recognition.  I am still waiting for my autographed copy.  Love, Mom

  Your book is very impressive.  I am SO proud of you!  You are an excellent role model for all of us (your four younger siblings).  Even though I don't quite understand all the data in your book, it is quite amazing.  Thank you for teaching me binary counting.  I like it when you explain new things.  You are a funtabulous big brother.

  What a joy!  It was such a blessing to receive my autographed copy of your new book during my recent trip to Seattle to visit you and Dawn and Sarah.  What you wrote and had published in your book was only surpassed by what you handwrote in the front cover of my book when you autographed it for me.  Thank you ever so much.
