Local: Sushi Etiquette + My Favorite Sushi Opens in Redmond

Taka_sushiI like sushi!  Very much.  In fact, I enjoy eating raw fish more than cooked fish.  Event most all my friends that “don’t like sushi” have ended up enjoying it when my wife and I take them out because there’s just so much to eat that is cooked, or isn’t seafood, or they end up enjoying the raw fish.  My favorite restaurant in the Seattle area is Sushi Land.

My wife and I enjoy eating every week or two at Sushi Land in Bellevue.  The place uses a conveyer belt that the chefs put sushi on little color coded plates for $1, $2, or $3.  You just pick off what you want as it comes around.  It is a very quick, easy, and an inexpensive meal.  We can walk in, immediately sit down, each to our hearts content, and within 15 minutes be out the door for under $15 for the both of us.  Sometimes I’ll refer to it as the “fast food” of sushi, because it’s so quick and inexpensive, but the quality is great!

Sushi Land in downtown Bellevue, on 107th between 2nd & Main, is where we’ve gone to date.  It can get quite crowed at lunch.  There was a good review in the Seattle Times.  I haven’t been to the Seattle location, but I added it to the map below.  The big news is that they opened a very nice, larger, new place in Redmond.   If you come to visit over lunch or dinner, it is likely that Sushi Land will be nominated.

Sushi Etiquette Video

A friend at TechEd mentioned there was an entertaining video on sushi etiquette available through Google videos.  I just watched this and it was cool!

I love sushi, too. I just had it last night.
I live in Japan, so they're all over the place.
The "conveyer belt"-style is known as kaitenzushi (回転寿司), literally "revolving sushi".

I recall one in the UW village that was pretty good. I think it was called BlueC or something like that.

The sushi clip was great! I laughed through the whole show! Sushi Land is awesome but that is partly because I have only gone with you and Dawn and you guys are always super fun to hang with and make every experience great! But sushi stands on its own is delishous and I love it every time! I give Sushi Land a thumbs up!
