Business Insight showcases a common problem within the financial vertical market using out-of-box SharePoint functionality as opposed to custom development. Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer requested access to financial reports near the end of a fiscal quarter. The result was a reply with 12 various intranet portals and file locations which exacerbated the poor situation. In reaction to the experience, the Finance team and Microsoft IT drove the creation of a single SharePoint portal to deliver reports to the leadership team.
