Summary: Ed Wilson introduces the new Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) blog.

Good morning everyone. Ed Wilson here, and today I want to talk about the new Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) Team blog. As many of you know, I am the Microsoft Scripting Guy and I write about Windows PowerShell every day on the Hey, Scripting Guy! Blog. I intend to continue that blog, but I am also starting this new blog.

Groovy dude

This is because I have fallen in love with a new awesome product: Microsoft Operations Management Suite. It may sound a bit strange to some people that I would defect to a GUI type of tool. I got into scripting because I wanted to manage complex network installations. I went down the journey of .bat files, Active Directory, Group Policy, VBScript, and Windows PowerShell.

OMS uses Windows PowerShell in a big way, so it is not like I am starting from scratch. In fact, for some things, OMS does Windows PowerShell better than Windows PowerShell does. This is especially true when it comes to Desired State Configuration (DSC).

Anyway, OMS is cool—like way cool. It makes using the power of PowerShell as easy as gliding along on a skateboard (as witnessed by the Groovy IT Dude).

We will have articles from the OMS team, from various MVPs, and from other community leaders. It is my hope that the OMS blog will become a focal point for all things related to Microsoft Operations Management Suite.

    "This is especially true when it comes to Desired State Configuration (DSC)"Such a bitter-sweet fact. Wonderful framework and complete reliance on 3rd parties to code even the simplest management stack.Definitely following the blog if only to see when things like partial configurations get deployed :)

      @Justin DSC is indeed a wonderful framework. But it is also fundamental technology, and like most fundamental technology, we make the framework and expose the hooks for third parties to extend the features for the enterprise.

    Will there be an RSS feed for this blog? I tried https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/msoms/rss.aspx like other Technet blogs, but that comes back with a 404.
