TechEd 2006 Barcelona, Keynote, Sessions, and Girly Dinner.
Today is day one of TechEd 2006 Barcelona, the day got started with a keynote given by Simon Brown from Microsoft EMEA and Eric Rudder Senior Vice President, Microsoft Redmond.
Simon introduced the Imagine Cup 07 (finals in Korea) and also introced a remarkable girl, Arfa Karim from Pakistan, she's eleven years old and has already got Microsoft Certified Professional status for application development! - she showed a C# based calculator she's written, amazing.
I missed Eric's part of the keynote (which I think was going to cover Vista and Office) because I needed to run to setup my session covering "What's new for developers in CE 6.0" - the audience was split 50/50 between developers interested in CE 6.0 for embedded development and developers that are interested in what's coming for Windows Mobile in the future - interesting, eh!
The session was fairly well attended (around 80 people in the room), and the session scored quite well, at the time of writing the session was top of the session score list for TechEd Europe - which I'm sure isn't going to last! especially with the likes of Anders Hejlsberg presenting.
There are a number of things happening at TechEd 2006 including a Girly Geek Dinner being hosted by Sarah Blow on Tuesday evening. Here's Sarah sporting one of the .NET MicroFramework shirts from MEDC 2006 Europe.
This evening is going to be booth duty, hopefully answering a ton of Windows Embedded questions... we're giving away Windows Embedded CE 6.0 T-Shirts and Windows Embedded Baseball Caps on the booth, come and get one!
