Tech Days Paris: Day 1 - Demos, MicroFramework and French Fries.
The first day of Tech Days France/Paris is now over, this is a huge event with close to 12,000 attendees registered for a FREE multi-day technical event covering a whole range of Microsoft products and technologies, ranging from .NET Microframework, Visual Studio, Vista, Office etc... - We have a complete track at the event covering embedded technologies which included the .NET Microframework, CE 6.0, XP Embedded, and Windows Embedded for Point of Service.
What has surprised me about this event is the interest in embedded products/technologies, I dropped into Olivier Bloch's CE 6.0 and Robotics Studio sessions this morning, the rooms were packed. What's also interesting is the level of interest in the .NET Microframework, not only from attendees at the event but also from speakers in the event speaker lounge - I'm hoping to capture some video tomorrow to put up on Channel 9 that shows some of the demos from Tech Days, and perhaps some interviews with Olivier Bloch and Dave Baker talking about their respective sessions and some of the key take-aways from their sessions.
Talking of Dave, once we got finished with this evenings event Dave and I walked to the Eiffel Tower (which took about an hour) - check out this strange building we passed on the way to the tower - the building really does look like this - very odd...
The Eiffel tower looks amazing, especially at night all lit up - If I get any spare time towards the end of the week I might take a trip up the tower (I wonder if they have a Starbucks at the top like the Space Needle?)
Since we're in Paris/France it would have been very rude not to have stopped for some French Fries on the way back to the hotel...
Day two of Tech Days kicks off tomorrow morning - I have some meetings and booth duty, busy, busy...

I heard that in some of the nice McDonald's in France, they serve wine, is that true? Also, what's "200 places au sous-sol" mean? and what's with the arrow?Anonymous

"The 200 places au sous-sol" means "two hundred seats available underground" - the arrow is pointing to the stairs.

Even if McDonald's serve wine in some restaurants, we could not say it is wine. It smelts and looks as wine but not taste.
